Backpack Program

Many children qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meals they eat. What happens when they go home over the weekend?

For many years, New Salem UMC has been helping children get the nutritious and easy-to-prepare food they need to get enough to eat on the weekends. Bags of food are assembled at the church and then delivered to Cool Springs Elementary School at the end of the week. With your help, we can provide more food to more children in need by donating items to the food pantry or by giving monetary donations to the backpack program. A list of recommended items is listed to the right. For more information please call the office (704) 872-6097 or click the button below to get involved!

Other ways to help:

Prayerfully consider giving a cash donation. Write backpack on your check memo line or on the offering envelope and place in the offering plate or mail to the office. (New Salem UMC, 155 New Salem Road, Statesville, NC 28625)

Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
